Hooded towel poncho.
A fresh, clean baby all wrapped up in a nice towel really is the sweetest thing. My teenagers all had a hooded towel poncho that they used when they were little – basically until their heads were too big to shove through the head hole and the towel wasn’t long enough to cover their bum – and I wanted to make one for my toddler too.
I find a great tutorial online and followed it (save for the pocket). I used lovely green colored towels (to compliment my baby’s beautiful blue eyes). I made the head hole bigger than his head now so he could grow into it. But, when I tried it on him, it was too big. To fix that problem, I just hand stitched the hood down onto the open part of the collar. I made large stitches so it will be easy to open it up again when he grows into it more. It still drags on the ground now, but it’s oh-so-cute!
I hand stitched part of the hood down to the open collar to make it a bit smaller but still allow for it to be opened up again.
So I totally know this is baby but it looks so comfortable I want to make one for myself! You did such a great job on it!
You could probably make it for yourself with a beach towel and a bath towel. I bet it would be something that would sell on ModCloth or somewhere like that – let’s go into business!
